My name is Hayley Mysliwiec and i'm a photographer. Born in China, I was diagnosed with a Congenital Heart Defect (CHD). As an orphan I underwent two open heart surgeries (OHS) to treat the defect. It was during my second OHS in NY at the age of three when I met my adoptive parents and soon after immigrated to the United States. At the start of fifth grade I developed complications with my heart and spent the next six years in and out of hospitals. It was a very difficult time for me as I was battling depression and severe anxiety.
A good friend of mine gifted me with a Samsung Galaxy Camera in which I used to take pictures of the wildlife in my backyard. I photographed groundhogs, deer, hundreds of birds, and anything that decided to visit the yard. It was an amazing experience and a wonderful outlet to help me cope with my crazy life at the time.
In August of 2016, Make-A-Wish Foundation granted me a wish that changed my life forever! I received my very own Nikon D7200 and accessory package along with a trip to the Six Flags Safari in Jackson, NJ. I brought my D7200 with me and had the TIME OF MY LIFE! I got to pet a rhino, see a litter of lion cubs, a baby zebra, and my favorite part was feeding giraffes all during my VIP private tour! My passion for animal photography led me to creating PawzofLove where I can publish my photographs of dogs and cats available for adoption at local animal rescue shelters. I expanded my photography service to include privately owned pets, whereby I donate a portion of the proceeds to shelters in need.
Animal photography saved my life! It has given me hope, strength, the fortitude to keep moving forward, and the ability to give back to those that do not have a voice to stand up for themselves. Advocating for animals and photography are two things that I have a strong passion for because, animals provide unconditional love and photography has no creative limits.
